In cross-border transportation of tropical fruits, the sanitation of durian transportation reefer containers directly affects fruit quality and trade safety. Durian has a high sugar content and is highly perishable; residual pulp, juice or microorganisms may breed mold and even cause cross-contamination. Therefore, establishing scientific and systematic cleaning and disinfection standards is not only the basis for ensuring transportation efficiency, but also a key link in maintaining food safety.

The cleaning of durian transportation reefer containers shall be carried out in stages. First, use a high-pressure water gun (pressure ≥ 80 Bar) to rinse the inner and outer surfaces of the container, especially to remove residues from vents, corners and welding seams, so as to prevent sugar crystallization and hardening from increasing cleaning difficulty. Then, for stubborn stains, a neutral detergent with pH 6–8 can be used together with a soft brush for manual scrubbing to prevent corrosion of container materials by strong acids or alkalis. After cleaning, rinse repeatedly with clean water until no foam remains, and use an endoscope to confirm no detergent residue, so as to avoid reduced disinfection effect caused by chemical reactions in the subsequent process.

Suitable disinfection methods shall be selected according to transportation scenarios. For domestic short-haul transportation, chlorine-based disinfectant (available chlorine concentration 200–500 ppm) can be sprayed on the inner wall of the container, and rinsed with clean water after 30 minutes of contact time. For export or strict microbial control requirements, atomized hydrogen peroxide disinfection or ozone fumigation is recommended, as these methods can penetrate biofilms and kill hidden bacteria and mold spores. After disinfection, the durian transportation reefer container shall be closed and left standing to ensure full volatilization of residual disinfectant. Only when the surface microbial count verified by an ATP bioluminescence tester is ≤ 30 RLU can the container be put into use. In addition, regular concentration calibration and maintenance of disinfection equipment are also important measures to ensure stable disinfection effect.
