On November 14, the 2023 Transportation Structure Adjustment and Multimodal Transport Development On-site Promotion Conference was held in Qinzhou, Guangxi. Li Yang, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, attended and addressed the conference, emphasizing the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on adjusting transportation structure, continue to optimize transportation structure, vigorously develop multimodal transport, promote quality improvement and cost reduction in logistics, and strive to accelerate the construction of a strong transportation nation. He called for efforts to serve as a pioneer in Chinese-style modernization by providing solid transportation services and support. Xu Yongli, Standing Committee Member of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee and Vice Chairman of the Autonomous Region Government, attended the conference and delivered a speech.

Li Yang emphasized the need to focus closely on objectives and tasks, concentrate on key issues and challenges, strengthen coordination and linkage, and strive to create a new landscape for high-quality development of transportation structure adjustment and optimization and multimodal transport. Efforts should be made to promote bulk cargo transportation modal shift from road to rail and from road to water, build a comprehensive transportation hub system, innovate transportation organization models, improve laws and regulations, coordinate pilot demonstration advancement, and better balance development with safety for sustained progress. This will ensure comprehensive completion of transportation structure adjustment and optimization tasks, accelerate infrastructure interconnection, enhance multimodal transport service quality, accelerate standardized multimodal transport development, and fully leverage the leading role of demonstration projects to effectively maintain industry safety and stability.

Relevant ministerial committees, relevant bureaus and affiliated units of the Ministry of Transport, transportation departments (bureaus, commissions) of various provinces (regions, municipalities) and cities specifically designated in the state plan, relevant officials from railway, civil aviation, and postal management departments, relevant bureau and department heads from China State Railway Group, and representatives from relevant industry associations and multimodal transport enterprises attended the conference.

Association Executive Vice President and Secretary-General Li Muyuan attended the conference as an official representative. Since the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the Association has actively participated in promoting multimodal transport development work, guiding multiple enterprises in creating multimodal transport demonstration projects, all of which have passed acceptance and been awarded. Taking this conference as a new starting point, the Association will continue to contribute industry think tank expertise to advancing multimodal transport development.
